MONSTER COLOURS by Tombs Creatius/ Catalunya, Spain.
The idea of this project came about when Tombs Creatius was commissioned to build a collection of games for the Festival Internacional de las Artes (FIA) in Costa Rica. Monster Colours is a collection of games, built from wood and designed for all ages. With colorful illustrations, they create an expressive and exciting atmosphere in the streets and plazas. For Jordan, and instead of shipping the games, the company held a workshop at the Children Museum Jordan’s carpentry studio with local artisans and artists over two weeks and produced 8 of these games locally. After the festival the games will tour different NGOs and public parks.

Khoyout Theatre-Mahdi Karera (Gaza-Palestine)
Created by artist Mahdi Karera from Gaza, these puppets are built from recycled distributed aid of cans, bottles, and scraps of fabric collected by Mahdi in Gaza. We were able to miraculously bring five of these puppets from Gaza to Amman. Each puppet tells the story of ordinary people—a grandmother, a student, a farmer, an artist, and a musician—whose lives embody resilience and hope. By transforming discarded objects into characters with voices and memories, Mahdi turns scarcity into creativity. His work brings theatre to displaced children and families in Gaza’s refugee camps, offering moments of joy and recognition in the midst of hardship. In this installation you will be able to listen to Mahdi tell the story of each puppet.
Sarhan the Giant Clown
In Alwan 2022 we launched Sarhan Abd Il Baseer; a large scale puppet waiting to be animated. This year Sarhan will be transformed into a giant clown, a tribute to the many clowns in Gaza bringing some joy to so many children who were displaced and affected by the war on Gaza.Children are invited to become true puppeteers by pulling on one of the Clown’s many ropes and working together to create poses, move him around and bring him to life. This piece was originally designed by the Jordanian Industrial Designer Aya Ayoubi and was manufactured in Jordan at the Ayoubi Steel Furniture Factory Co. after being commissioned by the Alwan Festival.
